Analysis of current changes on the labour market, particularly in the context of the pandemic, the armed conflict in Ukraine and the energy crisis in the automotive and engineering sector

The aim of the analysis is to provide a comprehensive view of the current situation in the sector, affected in particular by the pandemic, the war crisis in Ukraine as well as the energy crisis, and thus to identify the scope of key changes on the labour market, including the requirements for the professional knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform work activities at jobs on the labour market.

The automotive and engineering industries are currently going through an exceptionally dynamic period of change. One of the key areas in which the sector perceives change is the labour market and the question of the workforce’s skills. As a result of the pandemic and innovations, two distinct groups of people have emerged on the labour market – those who lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic and those who risk losing their jobs as a result of the transformation to Industry 4.0, unless they manage to improve their competencies.

The document will serve in preparing proposals for specific legislative measures aimed at the changes on the labour market in the automotive and engineering sector as a result of the pandemic, the armed conflict in Ukraine and the energy crisis. Subsequently, the proposals for these measures will be the subject of further discussions among social partners.
