Industrialist Beljajev: We must have managed migration here, whether someone likes it or not

Slovak industry currently faces many problems and a number of challenges lie ahead. Whether it is decarbonisation, keeping pace with the competition, or an ageing population and the associated shortage of skilled labour. It is an important part of society, as it accounts for as much as a 20-percent share of the economy and employs hundreds of thousands of workers.
The pandemic, Putin's war in Ukraine, and the energy crisis. Three difficult crises have also had an impact on the captains of industry.
They met at the TA3 conference titled Business and Industry, together with the Minister of Economy Peter Dovhun, to outline their views on the matter and managed to find solutions to their problems together.
The daily Pravda looked at the main challenges that were mentioned at the conference.
1. Help with expensive energy
The government had already announced last year that it would prepare and launch an aid scheme for large companies to compensate for high energy prices. Unlike households, large companies have not received the promised state aid to help with expensive energy. Companies have not yet received any money from the scheme for energy-intensive enterprises.
According to him, large industrialists had to use their own resources to cover the high energy invoices, resources they could have rather used for innovation. He also pointed to the fact that the Germans and Czechs invested enormous financial resources in aid for large companies. They approached it the other way around and directed financial injections more into industrial production.
The Minister of Economy also responded to the broken promise from the past, saying that a decision on the aid scheme for large companies will be made in the summer. „The commitment stands that by summer we will provide an answer on how the government is to fulfil its promise,“ declared Dovhun. The state helped large companies, for example, by capping tariffs and through changes to the controversial environmental fund.
