The Regina magazine looked at industry in the regions. Together with our member companies, we provided a view of the business environment, experiences, but also the problems and specifics that industrial enterprises encounter.
The programme was dedicated to the future of industry in Slovak regions, but also on a pan-European scale. The guests were Branislav Klocok, General Director of Oravské ferozliatinárske závody, and Zdenko Krajčo, General Director of the company ELKOND HHK. The Secretary General of APZD Andrej Lasz also clarified the closer context.
„It would be good at the beginning to immediately decide what kind of country we actually want to be. Whether we want to support tourism or some other areas. So far, if the statistics show correctly, we are the second most industrial country in the European Union and we really need some stable support from the government or stable support from the state that will understand that industry is today undergoing a major transformation, and that transformation will not stop just because in Slovakia the government changes three times, as for example last year,“
says Andrej Lasz.
„If we also want to raise the standard of living in Slovakia and compare ourselves with western countries, then the topic of competitiveness is also relevant. How can we attract investors to Slovakia? Every investor, of course, looks at several factors when launching an investment in various countries. On the one hand, these are the prices of electricity, or state support for those electricity prices. Then there is, of course, demography as such, whether it will have employees for this, for its production. And thirdly, I also look at the stability of the legislative environment. For example, car manufacturers produce a car over a 7-year period, a period of 7 years, and are very sensitive to how the conditions change over those given seven years, because the calculations are simply set for those seven years,“
says Andrej Lasz.
